Data Collection & Advertisements

Personal Data: The Developer (Catalyst Fix Pro) DOES NOT collect, store, or share your personal data (such as name, email, or exact location) on our servers.

Advertising Services (AdMob): This Lite version of the application uses Google AdMob to display advertisements.

Google AdMob and its partners may collect and process certain data to provide personalized or relevant ads, including:

• Advertising ID: A unique identifier used for advertising purposes.
• Device Information: Device type, model, and operating system version.
• General Location: Approximate location derived from IP address.
• Usage Data: Information about interactions with advertisements.

By using this application, you consent to the display of advertisements and the data processing by Google AdMob as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Vehicle Diagnostics Data

The application reads and processes diagnostic trouble codes from your vehicle's electronic control unit (ECU) via the OBD2 protocol.

Data Processing

Important: All vehicle diagnostic data is processed locally on your device during the active session. This application does not create a permanent database of your vehicle's history and does not transmit diagnostic data to any external server.

Specific Features

• Reads OBD2 diagnostic trouble codes from the ECU
• Clears specific catalyst trouble codes (P0420, P0430) when safe to do so
• Implements safety checks to prevent clearing critical error codes
• Processes diagnostics locally

Internet Connectivity

An internet connection is required to load and display advertisements via Google AdMob.

However, the core diagnostic functions (scanning and clearing errors via Bluetooth) operate locally and do not require an internet connection to communicate with the vehicle.

Permissions

The application requires the following permissions:

Location Permission (Fine Location)

Purpose: Scanning for Bluetooth devices (Android System Requirement)

Android Limitation: Since Android 6.0, apps require location permission to scan for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Classic devices. We do not use this permission to track your physical location.

Nearby Devices (Android 12+)

Purpose: Bluetooth connection with the ELM327 OBD2 adapter

Required: Allow this permission to enable communication with your compatible ELM327/OBD2 adapter

Internet / Network State

Purpose: Required by Google AdMob to download and display advertisements.

Notifications

Purpose: App activity notifications (e.g. connection status)

Recommendation: Enable to see the app's current status during operation.

Storage Permission

Purpose: Saving application settings and logs locally on your device.

Battery Optimization

Although the app operates manually, it requires uninterrupted processing during the scanning session.

Recommendation: Set "Unrestricted" in battery settings to ensure continuous operation during diagnostics.

Without this setting, some devices may restrict the app's activity, which could interrupt the error scanning process.

Third-Party Services

The application uses the following third-party services that have their own Privacy Policies:

• Google AdMob: For displaying advertisements (AdMob Privacy & Terms)
• Google Play Services: For core Android functionality and security

Security and Limitations

Important Disclaimer: This application is intended ONLY for NON-CRITICAL catalyst trouble codes (P0420, P0430). It does not fix mechanical problems, does not replace faulty parts, and does not address safety-related vehicle issues.

The application includes built-in safety features:

1. Automatically disables all clearing if any trouble code other than P0420 or P0430 is detected.
2. Never clears critical engine, brake, safety, or other system trouble codes.
3. The code clearing operation is completely blocked and terminated if other codes are present.
4. Local Processing: No diagnostic data leaves your device.

By using this application, you acknowledge, understand, and agree to the following:

2. User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for any consequences resulting from the use of this application.
3. Not a Repair: Clearing a trouble code (P0420/P0430) resets the ECU monitoring but does not fix the underlying mechanical efficiency.
4. Limitation of Liability: The developer shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages.
5. Legal Compliance: It is your responsibility to ensure that the use of this application complies with all applicable laws.
